how to install venetian blinds

Installing Venetian blinds sounds like a draining process. From climbing the stools to fastening the screws, installation sounds like an exhausting process. Although, it isn’t something to be anxious about. Here is a step-by-step process for how to install Venetian blinds even if you are a beginner.

Measuring Venetian Blinds

Before learning how to install these Venetian Blinds, here are a few considerable majors. Before you buy Venetian blinds, you’ll be required to measure your windows. You can measure windows in two ways, depending on where you wish to fit your wooden blinds: inside the recess or outside.

Moreover, it’s important to get the measurements right as you will install blinds according to your measurements. So, grab your tape measure, a notepad and a pencil and get measuring!

For Inside the Recess

measuring blinds inside the recess

  1. First, measure the width in three places: at the top, middle, and bottom of the window. Record the smallest measurement. (Remember to measure in centimetres to be precise.)
  2. Moving on to the drop, do the same thing over again. Measure the height at the left, right, and middle of the window and note down the smallest measurement.
  3. Once you have jotted down your measurements, order your Venetian blinds as “Recess” size.  This is important as, for inside the recess, we will have to make a slight reduction to a perfect fit. So, make sure you’re not giving the measurements for “Exact” size when ordering.

Important Checks: Naturally, you need to make sure there’s at least 3 cm gap between any obstruction. Like a handle and the front of the window recess. And if there are obstacles like tiles within the recess. Measure the distance between them and use this as the width for your blinds.

For Outside the Recess

measuring blinds outside the recess

  1. Start by working out how far you would like for your blind to overlap the window recess. We suggest about 5 cm to 7 cm.
  2. Measure out from your window recess and mark the two points. And then measure from one point to the other. This will be your blind width measurement.
  3. For the length, measure from where you want your blinds to start from till the end. This will be your drop.
  4. Note down these measurements and place your order for “Exact” size of Venetian blinds. In this, no deductions are made and you will get the blinds according to your exact measurements.

Important Checks: To make sure your Venetian blinds block out the light better. We recommend they extend at least 5 cm beyond the window frame on each side. The more your blinds cover the window frame, the less chance there is for light to get through.

How to mount Venetian Blinds in 5 easy steps?

So, you’ve got the right measurement. And now wish to install luxury Venetian blinds immediately. But before you rush into it, make sure you have all the necessary tools to mount your Venetian blinds.

You will need: a pencil, a tape measure, a screwdriver, screws, a drill, and appropriate size drill bit. You will find brackets, wall plugs, and safety pleats included with your blinds.

Now that have your tools, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to install Venetian blinds:

Step 1: Mark the Bracket Positions

mark the bracket positions

  • The brackets can be fitted as a face fix, for outside the recess, or top fix, for inside the recess. Simply hold the brackets up where you want to install your Venetian blinds and mark the holes with your pencil.
  • For inside the recess, be sure to place them a little further from the window so that they don’t interfere with any obstacles like handles, ensuring a quick, clean drop for your blinds. We recommend you position these brackets at about 20 cm from the edge of the recess.
  • Also make sure that you dont position your brackets where they directly affect the operation of the blind. We recommend placing the brackets along the recess or outside the recess line at three, equidistant points, for a regular-sized window. Be sure to use all the brackets included with your blinds for a perfect fit.

Step 2: Drill the Holes

drill the holes

  • The fun part. Use a drill to make holes where you’ve marked. Wear safety glasses if you have a pair.
  • Then comes the satisfying bit. After the holes are drilled, seamlessly insert the wall plugs into the holes to keep the screws secure. Make sure they are flushed all the way into the wall.

Step 3: Fix the Brackets

fix the brackets

  • Then, screw the brackets into place. This step is the same whether you’re fitting Venetian blinds made of wood or metal. Do this for every bracket for every bracket you’ve been supplied with your Venetian blinds.
  • Open all the swing arms of the brackets before mounting your Venetian blinds.

Step 4: Mount the Blinds
